Can I obtain advanced standing?

Tranfer students:

The University will consider granting transfer credits in advanced standing to students who have earned a grade which is acceptable to the Faculty in which they are applying for admission for courses completed in recognized universities or colleges in other countries which correspond to the required courses and the acceptable options in the chosen undergraduate program. To determine possible transfer credits, we require official course descriptions (in English or in French) for studies completed outside of Canada, including course content, hours of instruction and course duration.

NOTE: No advanced standing can be granted for courses taken at a college or university and presented by affidavit only, without official transcripts.

  • International Baccalaureate: Advanced standing may be granted only for higher-level subjects, provided the student's score for the course is 5 or higher. Subject matter distribution must meet program requirements.  Refer to table below
  • French Baccalaureate: Students who have completed the Baccalauréat de l'enseignement général du second degré or the Diplôme du Baccalauréat général may be granted up to 30 credits (10 university courses, for courses completed with a grade of 10 or better).  Refer to table below
  • Advanced Placement Program (APP) courses: Up to 30 credits (10 university courses) of advanced standing may be granted, provided the student obtains a minimum score of 4 in each subject and the AP courses correspond to the required courses in the chosen program. Refer to the table below
